Azerbaijan joins CIS Cultural Cooperation Council meeting
A regular meeting of the Council for Cultural Cooperation of CIS countries took place on September 14 as part of the 10th St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures.
According to Azerbaijan's Ministry of Culture, the event saw the participation of heads of cultural ministries from Russia, Uzbekistan, Belarus, and other CIS countries, along with representatives from various organizations, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
In his speech, Oleg Amirbayov, Advisor to the Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan, highlighted that cultural integration among CIS countries has reached a new level.
He welcomed the decision to designate the city of Lachin as the “CIS Cultural Capital” in 2024.
“The III CIS Games to be held in Azerbaijan in 2025 is an important event that opens unique opportunities. We are preparing a broad cultural program, thanks to which, in addition to sports competitions, we will show how sport and art can harmoniously combine and create new aspects of inter-ethnic dialogue,” Amirbayov emphasized.
The minister’s advisor further emphasized the contribution of cultural events, such as the Days of Culture held across CIS countries, to the region's cultural integration.
Additionally, he mentioned the Creative Week festival in Baku, which brings together representatives from the creative industries of neighbouring countries, providing a platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences.
