Azerbaijan, NATO discuss prospects for developing cooperation in cybersecurity PHOTO / VIDEO
Azerbaijani Defence Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov met with a delegation led by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on March 18.
Hasanov thanked NATO for supporting Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity during the 30-year occupation and now, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Caliber.Az.
The NATO delegation was informed about the reforms being carried out in the Azerbaijani army in accordance with the instructions of Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, as well as about mine clearance work, restoration and construction work in the liberated territories, and the current situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian conventional border. The defence minister spoke about the success achieved in cooperation with NATO and noted the importance of further development of ties.
Stoltenberg highly appreciated the professionalism of the Azerbaijani army in peacekeeping missions and its activity in other spheres within the partnership with NATO. He emphasised that close cooperation between the Azerbaijani army and the Turkish Armed Forces will make an important contribution to the relations between Azerbaijan and NATO.
In conclusion, prospects for the development of cooperation in cybersecurity, mine clearance and other spheres of bilateral military relations were discussed. The views on regional security issues were exchanged.
