Azerbaijan, Russia discuss joint exploitation of Samur River PHOTO

The 22nd meeting of the Joint Azerbaijani-Russian Commission for the division of water resources of the transboundary Samur River has been held in Azerbaijan’s northern district of Gusar.

The commission was established in line with the “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the efficient use and protection of water resources of the transboundary Samur River”, Report informs citing the Azerbaijan Amelioration and Water Management company.

The meeting, held by the Azerbaijani side under the leadership of the co-chairman of the commission, deputy chairman of the joint-stock company Zakir Guliyev, was attended by employees of the structure Elchin Mammadov, Elkhan Huseynov and members of the commission - representatives of the State Property Service under the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the State Border Service and Gusar District Executive Power.

Issues of distribution and monitoring of water resources of the Samur River, the joint operation of the Samur hydroelectric complex and other issues were considered at the meeting.

Following the discussions, a joint protocol on future activities was signed.
