Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces join ranking of 30 strongest armies worldwide
The Azerbaijani Armed Forces have been recognised among the world’s most powerful armies, ranking 29th globally, according to a report from US News & World Report.
The ranking, which highlights the world's military strengths, places Russia at the top of the list, with Ukraine securing the 8th position, Caliber.Az reports.
The United States holds the 2nd spot, followed by Israel in 3rd place, a notable achievement for the country of 9 million, which surpassed China, a nation of 1.4 billion.
Türkiye also made it into the top 10 of the rankings, underscoring the region's military significance.
Azerbaijan has been ranked 57th among 145 countries in the 2023 Global Firepower (GFP) military strength index, a platform that evaluates military capabilities worldwide.
The US-based GFP assigned Azerbaijan a Power Index score of 0.9391 in its latest review, where a score closer to 0.0000 is considered ideal. Azerbaijan ranked ahead of its neighbouring countries in the South Caucasus, with Georgia and Armenia positioned at 84th and 94th, respectively.
In 2022, Azerbaijan held the 63rd position out of 142 countries in the GFP index, while Georgia and Armenia were ranked 88th and 98th, respectively.
