Azerbaijani film wins three awards in France PHOTO
An Azerbaijani film has won three awards in France.
An award ceremony was held in the French city of Vesoul as part of the 29th International Festival of Asian Films (Festival international des Cinémas d'Asie), Report informs.
The full-length feature film "Cold as Marble," co-produced by the film studio Azerbaijanfilm, Public Television, the Baku Media Centre, and the French company Arizona Films with support from the Azerbaijani Culture Ministry, received three festival awards (the Grand Prize of the International Jury, the NETPAC Jury Award and the Mark Haaz Jury Award).
Asif Rustamov's film depicts the complicated relationship between an unsuccessful artist and his beloved. The father, who has recently returned from prison, attempts to meddle in his son's life.
Arzu Aliyeva is the film's general producer; the screenwriters are Asif Rustamov and his Dutch colleague Roelof Jan Minneboo; the director is Asif Rustamov; the production operators are Ogtay Namazov and Adil Abbasov; the production designer is Rafig Nasirov; and the creative producer is Irada Bagirzada. The main characters were played by Elshan Asgarov, Natavan Abbasli, and People's Artist Gurban Ismailov.
The film will join the international competition program of the 27th Sofia International Film Festival, which will be held in the Bulgarian capital Sofia from March 16 to 31.
The world premiere of the film ”Cold as Marble" took place in November 2022 at the Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn. In the main competition program of the festival, Gurban Ismailov was awarded the "Best Actor" award. In 2022, the film took part in the main program of the 53rd Indian International Film Festival in Goa and the 16th Eurasian International Film Festival. At the last festival, the film was awarded the “Best Director” award (Asif Rustamov).
