Azerbaijani president marks State Sovereignty Day with social media post

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has shared a post on his social media accounts on the occasion of State Sovereignty Day.

Azerbaijan is marking State Sovereignty Day on September 20 for the second consecutive year, following President Ilham Aliyev’s 2024 decree. The occasion comes after decades of conflict with Armenia, including the occupation of Azerbaijani lands in the early 1990s, the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020 that restored much of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, and the 2023 anti-terrorist operation in Karabakh that fully reestablished the country’s sovereignty.
