Iran: Hormuz will stay closed while Trump, Netanyahu remain in power
17 September 2026 17:29
Iran will keep the Strait of Hormuz closed until U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are removed from power, Mohammad-Bagher Zolghadr, a political adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, said.
“Our fighters will not open the Strait of Hormuz as long as Trump and Netanyahu remain in power,” Zolghadr said, describing the closure of the strategic waterway as the first stage of Iran’s response.
Zolghadr said Tehran also intended to avenge those killed during the war.
He added that Iran’s resistance over the past 200 days demonstrated what he described as the failure of attempts to defeat the country.
