Azerbaijani, Russian universities to consolidate efforts to combat desertification
Interaction of university teams from the Caspian littoral states is organized within the framework of the Priority 2030 development program (strategic project "Improving environmental security level and preservation of natural systems of the region").
"The project is complex, within it we have singled out nine subprojects that complement each other. The main vectors on which we are focused now are the fight against soil desertification, the improvement of the natural environment, and the health and well-being of the population," said Anna Fedotova, project Manager, Director of the Innovative Natural Institute of ASU, according to Trend.
At the same time, according to the scientist, the results achieved during the implementation of the project can easily be extrapolated to any regions with similar natural and climatic conditions.
"In the fight against desertification, Astrakhan State University has become the first and so far the only organization in the region that has taken the liberty to lead this process using science-based technologies. Despite the Caspian regionality of the topic, we are actively cooperating in this area with the SFU, TSU and Lomonosov Moscow State University, scientific institutes and organizations, and colleagues from the Azerbaijan State University of Economics will join the project in the near future," Anna Fedotova said.
