Cambodia vows no retreat as Thailand expands cross-border attacks

26 July 2025 09:46

On July 26, Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, spokesperson for Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defence, said that on the third day of conflict, Cambodian forces continue to defend their territory against Thai attacks firmly.

During a press briefing, Socheata highlighted that despite ongoing pressure and reinforcements from Thai forces, Cambodian troops have not retreated and continue to protect the country’s sovereignty without yielding ground, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.

“The Royal Government of Cambodia, the armed forces, and the people stand united in defending their sovereignty and dignity without hesitation,” she said.

“Our forces remain strong, confident, and determined to resist threats and coercion from Thailand, standing firm without losing even a millimetre of our territory.”

According to the spokesperson, at 5:02 a.m. on 26 July, Thai forces launched five artillery strikes targeting several positions in Thma Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province. Simultaneously, attacks were reported at three locations within Cambodia’s 4th Military Region: Tathav, Choam Te, and Veal Intri.

She added that Thailand appears intent on broadening its offensive and further infringing upon Cambodian sovereignty.
