China provides Russian market with cars

Sales of Chinese cars rapidly increased in Russia in July 2022.

Some 24.3 percent of the total market accounted for new Chinese passenger cars, according to the Autostat website.

The Russians purchased 8,642 new passenger cars made in China last month.

Chinese automakers have recently begun to provide the Russian market with cars.

Thus, the share of cars from China in Russia in April 2022 increased by 3.1 percentage points up to 12.6 percent, and it reached 16.9 percent in May 2022.

The figure sharply increased to 21 percent in June 2022.

The most popular Chinese brand in July 2022 was the Geely Coolray crossover. Some 1,219 cars were sold.

Haval Jolion ranked second. Two Chery models, Tiggo 7 PRO and Tiggo 4 were also in great demand among Russians.
For the first time, the Russians preferred cars of Chinese brands to Korean ones. Some 21.2 percent of total sales volume accounted for cars made in Korea in July 2022.

Domestic manufacturers, holding 30.9 percent of the market, became market leaders.
