China urges nuclear-weapons states to reduce risks of their use

China calls on other countries that have nuclear weapons to maintain global strategic stability and reduce nuclear risks, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said.

He claims that China has been advocating its complete elimination since the first day of obtaining nuclear weapons, Kommersant reports.

Wang said during the briefing that the Chinese authorities have pledged never to use nuclear weapons and not to threaten to use them against countries that do not have such weapons.

"China is the only one of the five nuclear powers that have made such a commitment. We call on other nuclear - weapon states to adhere to the same policy," the diplomat said.
