Turkish FM: Western sanctions against Russia to be key topic in Ukraine talks
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stated that discussions surrounding the comprehensive sanctions imposed by the West on Russia will be a crucial aspect of upcoming negotiations aimed at resolving the Ukraine conflict.
Fidan expressed his view that meaningful dialogue and negotiations are likely to commence after the US presidential elections, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
“Over three years of war, the parties have generally formed a picture of what they can and cannot achieve [at the front],” Fidan noted.
He also emphasized the significance of the Western sanctions on Russia.
“An important component of this war is the West’s sanctions against Russia. They will, of course, be included in the agenda in the format of one large package [of proposals].”
Fidan also warned, “If we fail to reach a solution, the entire conflict will either become even larger in scale or freeze.”
In the event of a freeze, he predicted that the front lines would remain static, with no significant actions taken by either side.
