"Discover Azerbaijan!" project continues in Egypt with successful fourth event PHOTO
The fourth event of the "Discover Azerbaijan!" project was held in the Egyptian city of Qalyubia in connection with the declaration of 2024 as the "Green World Solidarity Year" in Azerbaijan.
The event, organised through the support of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with the Diaspora and initiated by diaspora activist Dr. Sadagat Aliashrafi, brought together notable figures from the local community, leaders of influential companies and media organisations, students from the Passion Zone Academy, participants of the "Discover Azerbaijan!" project, and children in need of special care, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The event commenced with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Egypt. While welcoming the guests, project leader Sadagat Aliashrafi emphasised the friendly relations between the two countries, rooted in mutual respect.
She highlighted the official visit of Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev to the Arab Republic of Egypt on June 7, 2024, noting that the Azerbaijani diaspora in Egypt is actively working to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations. The "Discover Azerbaijan!" project serves as an example of these efforts.
Aliashrafi also expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with the Diaspora for the support. The owner and head of the "Passion Zone" Academy, Dr. Amal Suleiman, noted that the ties between two countries have deep historical roots and emphasised that the "Discover Azerbaijan!" project has been appreciated in Egypt.
Coordinator for Egypt at the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis in Arab Countries Sabrina Samadova said that as part of the project, they visited the "Pioneer Integrated School" and "Seyidna Hadija" schools in Cairo in April 2024, presenting certificates and gifts to the winners. She added that the project will be implemented throughout Egypt by the end of this year. The event featured recitations of poetry and performances of music in the Azerbaijani language.
