Egypt committed to peace treaty with Israel for regional security, FM says

The peace agreement between Egypt and Israel is a strategic decision and represents the basis for preserving peace and security in the Middle East.

"The peace treaty between Egypt and Israel is a strategic decision that Cairo made more than 40 years ago and represents the basis for preserving security and peace in the region," TASS reports, citing Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

Shoukry added that it "has its own mechanisms in place to deal with any possible violations should such a problem arise," and that Egypt tends to view the agreements in this way.
