SpaceX’s Endeavour reaches ISS, marks sixth trip to space VIDEO

02 August 2025 17:52

The four astronauts aboard SpaceX’s Crew-11 mission have successfully reached their destination in orbit.

Their Crew Dragon capsule, named Endeavour, docked with the International Space Station (ISS) on August 2 at 2:26 a.m. EDT (0626 GMT), just under 15 hours after launching from Florida’s Space Coast atop a Falcon 9 rocket, NASA reported on its X page, per Caliber.Az.

Notably, the docking occurred on the fifth anniversary of Demo-2, SpaceX’s first-ever crewed mission. That flight, also aboard Endeavour, carried NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley to the ISS for a two-month stay, marking a milestone in commercial spaceflight.

Crew-11 is commanded by NASA astronaut Zena Cardman. Her team includes pilot Mike Fincke, also from NASA, along with mission specialists Kimiya Yui from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Oleg Platonov from Russia’s Roscosmos. This is the first space mission for both Cardman and Platonov, the second for Yui, and the fourth for Fincke. For Endeavour, this marks its sixth flight, making it SpaceX’s most-flown crew capsule.

Upon arrival, the Crew-11 astronauts are joining seven existing ISS crew members: JAXA astronaut Takuya Onishi, who currently commands Expedition 73, NASA astronauts Anne McClain, Nichole Ayers, and Jonny Kim, and Roscosmos cosmonauts Kirill Peskov, Sergey Ryzhikov, and Alexey Zubritsky.

The new arrivals will take over from Ayers, McClain, Onishi, and Peskov, who arrived in mid-March aboard Crew-10. The outgoing crew is expected to return to Earth within a few days, after a short handover period with Crew-11.

Crew-11 marks SpaceX’s 11th operational astronaut mission to the ISS for NASA. In addition to these operational flights, SpaceX has conducted eight other crewed missions: the Demo-2 test flight, four private missions to the ISS in collaboration with Axiom Space, and three free-flying missions — Inspiration4, Polaris Dawn, and Fram2.
