Erdogan says terrorists couldn’t mislead Turkish army by hoisting Assad regime flag
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the United States is leaving the Syrian regions on the east of the Euphrates River, which is one of the consequences of the Astana process.
The Turkish leader made the statement after a meeting with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Tehran on July 19, Anadolu Agency informs.
It was the US that was "feeding" the terrorists in this area of the neighbouring country, according to him.
President Erdogan pointed out that the issue of conducting a new anti-terrorist operation in northern Syria will remain on Ankara's agenda as long as the threat to Türkiye’s national security persists.
“Ankara will not be deceived by terrorist attempts to mislead the Turkish army by hoisting flags of the Bashar al-Assad regime in northern Syria. These tricks will not work,” Erdogan assured.
He added that Ankara expects support from Russia and Iran in the issue of conducting an anti-terrorist operation 30 kilometres deep into Syrian territory from the Turkish border.
