EU to soon decide whether to grant candidate status to Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova
Chief Spokesman for the European Commission Eric Mamer has said that EC will publish its conclusions regarding the applications of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova for membership in the European Union.
Based on the conclusion, the commission will decide whether to grant candidate status to these countries or not, according to Kyiv-based news service UNIAN.
“I read in the press that the commission has already made a decision, but this is not true. The commission did not decide anything yesterday. Debates were taking place that will allow members of the European Commissioners' College to express their opinions and views on this issue to prepare a decision on Friday [June 17],” Mamer said.
He added that this issue is being discussed at the Council of European Commissioners.
