Ex-presidential candidate hopes elections to be successful for Turkish people
Sinan Ogan, the first-round candidate of the Turkish presidential elections, has said he hopes the elections’ results will be successful for Türkiye and its people.
He made the remarks while talking to journalists after voting in the second round on May 28, Caliber.Az reports.
Ogan noted that these elections are also very important in terms of demonstrating the problems that can lead to pressure on people because of their decisions and attempts to deprive them of democratic rights.
"Therefore, I would like to point out once again that I condemn the pressure on IYI party chairman Meral Aksener and former presidential candidate Muharrem Ince. This election, unlike others, showed how damaging the pressure campaign is," Ogan added.
Voting for the second round of the presidential election is taking place in Türkiye on May 28.
In the first round, held on May 14, Recep Tayyip Erdogan won 49.52 per cent of the votes, opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu got 44.88 per cent and ATA candidate Sinan Ogan got 5.17 per cent. Voter turnout was 88.92 per cent.
With no candidate winning more than 50 per cent in the first-round votes, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Kemal Kilicdaroglu continue their fight in the second round of the presidential election.
