George Soros: World's poison pill Exposing "the man behind the curtain"
Everyone knows George Soros. Born in Hungary, the American billionaire is known as a tycoon who made his fortune by speculating in financial markets. But Soros is also famous for his social and political activities.
Liberals on every continent and in every country see him as an iconic figure, a kind of sacrosanct who is either good or very good to talk about. Through his network of foundations and Open Society programmes, Soros has done much to promote the liberal order in the world. But here is the problem: often, if not always, this promotion conflicts with the national interests of the states in which Soros operates. In particular, the term "Sorosites" has already become a household name, referring to the local implementers of Soros' policy of undermining the sovereignty of individual states in favour of liberal globalisation. Until recently, however, few critical studies of what Soros is doing existed. This gap was filled two years ago with the publication of Matt Palumbo's book "The Man Behind the Curtain. Inside George Soros's Secret Network". The 250-page study sheds light on the life and activities of the great and terrible manipulator. We have decided to acquaint our readers with some of its most interesting chapters.
From the first chapter, we learn that Soros managed to mark his ambiguous behaviour as a teenager. The author of the book claims that the future apologist for liberalism, as a teenager in German-occupied Hungary in 1944, collaborated with the Nazis, not in anything, but in the expropriation of the property of Jews, his countrymen and co-religionists, some of whom, as we know, were subjected to mass executions and deportations to death camps in the same Hungary.
Palumbo writes: "During the Nazi occupation, his father Tivadar obtained documents granting Christian citizenship to his immediate family. Soros went to live under the name Shandor Kiss with a friend of his father's, surnamed Baumbach, who was an official in the Ministry of Agriculture and a Nazi collaborator. His duties included inventorying the property confiscated from Jewish families and on these trips he was accompanied by Soros". The author goes on to quote an excerpt from an interview with Soros in which the journalist asks if it was difficult, to which he replies without apparent remorse: "No, not at all. Not at all. Maybe as a child, you don't... see the connection. But it didn't cause any problems". The reporter, obviously not quite believing the insensitivity of the man sitting in front of him, asked a clarifying question: "No guilt? The answer was again an indifferent "no".
It is remarkable that his lack of sympathy for the real tragedy of his people has not been an obstacle to the use of the Jewish motive in his strategy. The book points out that any criticism of Soros' actions and the institutions he finances is immediately labelled as anti-Semitism by the media, which does his bidding.
It is useful to quote a well-known fact from the book in order to understand the formal side of George Soros' activities. "In 1947 Soros became a student at the London School of Economics (LSE), where he was introduced to the philosophy of Karl Popper, which had a profound influence on his own ideological development. It was Popper's 1945 book The Open Society and Its Enemies that Soros called a 'revelation' and in honour of which he named his Open Society Foundation. Soros said of this work: 'It showed that fascism and communism have much in common and that both are opposed to another principle of social organisation, the principle of the open society'".
Soros' own "epiphany" sounds very noble. But he "forgets" that both fascism and communism were born out of liberalism and, if we think about it, both ideologies inherited from their "mother" some negative qualities, especially the intolerance of different opinions that we see today in the politics of some liberal Western countries. Therefore, what Soros and his cohorts really mean by an open society, contrary to what they claim, is not just a society in which the exchange of ideas and information is promoted, but a society open to the intervention of large (mostly American) capital, with accompanying political intervention.
The example of Ukraine is perhaps the best illustration of this. The book details Soros's role in promoting US interests in that country, including the persecution of undesirables. "Many of the key leaders of the Maidan protests were associated with Soros-sponsored programmes," the book points out. The author goes on to write that "during Poroshenko's rule (2014-2019), Soros managed to get a number of desired changes to Ukrainian legislation through the National Council of Reforms (NCR), created in 2014, bypassing parliament." And notes the following: "Soros believed that injecting financial aid into Ukraine would help stabilise its economy and provide a much-needed boost to the European economy, which had suffered temporary shocks in the run-up to the financial crisis. But once Ukraine had recovered from the crisis, Soros argued, it should be able to pay back its creditors for 'defence spending'".
Ironically, Ukraine has not come out of this crisis, but it is now paying a terrible price: tens of thousands of dead citizens, a destroyed economy and a shattered state. Now it's hard to deny that the West's collective policy helped provoke the Russian-Ukrainian war. What is particularly cynical is that having provided initial assistance to Kyiv, thus creating the illusion of a strong shoulder, the West is gradually withdrawing itself, effectively leaving Kyiv face to face with a formidable adversary.
However, stating that Soros acts in US interests allows for a certain generalisation. In fact, the tycoon acts in the interests of those transnational corporations that have embraced liberal globalisation. In this sense, it is also true to say that Soros' activities are also directed against conservative circles in America, in particular against former President Donald Trump. Soros' media empire has initiated the harassment of the popular conservative Fox News channel. Soros-controlled organisations have also artificially inflated the Black Lives Matter campaign. It began with the killing of a black man by a police officer in Ferguson. The investigation found nothing wrong with the officer's actions, but the campaign was unstoppable. Hysteria developed at breakneck speed, defying all notions of justice and common sense. It is no exaggeration to say that Soros' actions helped bring the country to the brink of civil war.
It is known that the Soros Foundation has also been active in our country. The Open Society Institute-Azerbaijan has been working in Baku since 1997. However, in 2010 the activities of the Foundation's representative office were restricted, and in December 2014 the Open Society Institute office in Baku was closed. Notably, due to the ambivalent attitude of Prime Minister Orban, the foundation also ceased its activities in Soros's native Hungary.
And what about Armenia? Unfortunately, the author does not mention Soros's role in Armenia's Velvet Revolution and the rise to power of Nikol Pashinyan and his team. However, analysing Pashinyan's subsequent actions, one can assume he is not consistently leading the country along the Western course. Sooner or later this was bound to cause displeasure with his handler. It is unclear whether Soros is behind the forces that want to provoke a new military conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Still, it is safe to assume that such a conflict would be to his advantage. Armenia effectively cut off from the CSTO, would be forced to turn to Western patrons who would provide aid - not enough to participate in a war against Azerbaijan, but enough to cement a Western presence in Armenia.
The struggle for the redistribution of power in the world is gaining momentum, and in this environment, the intensification of the activities of Soros' structures is a foregone conclusion. Fortunately, his foundation has ceased to operate in our country, but we must remain vigilant. The Soros empire is powerful enough to have an impact from outside. In any case, the publication of the book exposing the evil genius of Soros is a wonderful event, and we will do our best to bring such material to readers' attention in the future.
