Georgia's ruling party chairman vows accountability for war criminals
At a regional campaign event for the Georgian Dream party in Rustavi, Honorary Chairman Bidzina Ivanishvili emphasized that voting for his party in the upcoming elections on October 26 guarantees that Georgia will avoid conflict and that war criminals will be held accountable.
Ivanishvili asserted that the Georgian Dream is the sole political force that has maintained 12 years of uninterrupted peace amid challenging geopolitical circumstances, Caliber.Az reports via Georgian media.
He expressed confidence in the party's commitment to preventing war, stating, "I promise you that I, along with the Georgian Dream political team, will not allow war and the rain of bombs in Georgia at any cost."
He further highlighted the importance of peace in realizing Georgia's long-held dream of reunification.
The parliamentary elections will be held in Georgia on 26 October. Leaders of the ruling Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia party assure that its rating is about 60 per cent, while many opposition parties will not be able to pass the five per cent threshold to enter parliament. Some small opposition parties have already announced before the elections that they will merge with larger parties - Lelo, For Georgia, and Nova - which could help them get into parliament.
