Georgian party appeals to Putin to cancel visa regime
Members of the Georgian Solidarity for Peace party have appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin with a request to cancel the visa regime between the two countries.
The official video message, recorded at the party's congress on June 15, was sent to Putin by the party's international secretary Mamuka Pipia and other members of the party's political council, Sputnik Georgia reports.
In their video message, the politicians also called for the release of Georgian citizens who violated the time limit for staying on Russian territory and suggested easing employment rules for Georgians.
The Solidarity for Peace members noted that these measures would contribute to further rapprochement between Russia and Georgia and "quickly create a favorable basis for the restoration of good-neighborly and diplomatic relations."
