Germany suspends production of Taurus missiles
The production of long-range German Taurus missiles by MBDA has been suspended due to insufficient government defense orders.
According to to the head of the German branch of MBDA, Thomas Gottschild, the arms company and Taurus manufacturer “insists on faster federal decisions on orders for industry,” the German newspaper Spiegel reports.
Gottschild noted that Taurus missiles will not be produced at this stage, since the defense industry “is not allowed to produce stocks (of weapons - editor’s note) without orders,” the German newspaper emphasizes.
“It's a challenge for our industry when production is interrupted, as was the case with the Taurus. In such cases, our suppliers, which are often small and medium-sized companies, stop production,” the publication quotes him as saying.
