Hackers breach Kazakh embassy's website in Russia, exposing personal data
The analysts of the Russian DLBI organisation have announced that unknown hackers reportedly compromised the website of the Kazakh embassy in Russia.
The breach has exposed personal information from citizens who had either registered for appointments with the consular department of the embassy or had submitted inquiries via the website. Several text files containing sensitive data were accessed during the hack, Caliber.Az reports per the analysts’ message on “Data Leak” Telegram channel.
The leaked data includes a range of personal details such as full names, dates of birth, residential addresses, as well as approximately 24,500 phone numbers and 32,500 email addresses. The files appear to be dated February 21, 2025. As of now, there has been no official confirmation from the Kazakh embassy in Russia regarding the security breach.
In recent months, Russia has seen an increase in cyberattacks targeting various government and private sector websites. These attacks have been attributed to both state-sponsored hackers and cybercriminal groups. Notable breaches have involved the theft and exposure of sensitive data, including personal information of citizens and high-ranking officials. The rise in hacking activity is often linked to political tensions, with Russia's involvement in geopolitical conflicts leading to heightened cyber warfare.
