Harpoon missiles supplied to Ukraine may reach Zmiinyi Island
Adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Arestovich has said that Russian troops began to transport military equipment to Ukraine’s Zmiinyi Island.
“In particular, the Russian troops relocate air defence systems there,” Arestovich said in an interview with Politeka Online YouTube Channel, according to Ukraine’s Obozrevatel news service.
Arestovich noted that the Harpoon anti-ship missiles handed over to Ukraine would reach the Zmiinyi Island.
He added that the Russian troops removed their sunken Raptor patrol boat near the Zmiinyi Island and afterwards, they began to send additional weapons to the island.
“Russian troops are there now. They tried to set up a garrison. They have their own air defence system there. Russia had a problem with the sunken Raptor patrol boat at the unloading point. Its troops could not approach, so they tried to remove the sunken boat and approach other ships along the narrow channel of fairway,” Arestovich said.
“Afterwards, Russia began to send weapons, air defence systems, there and so on. But the Harpoon anti-ship missiles may reach the island.”
