Israel strikes Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon

06 May 2025 10:05

In the early hours of May 6, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched an attack on a Hezbollah facility in the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon, targeting infrastructure used for the production and storage of strategic weapons.

Hezbollah continues its efforts to resume its activities at this site, Caliber.Az reports, citing IDF’s Telegram channel.

Additionally, the military infrastructure of the organisation in the area of the town of Srifa in southern Lebanon was targeted.

"The actions of Hezbollah terrorists at this facility and the presence of weapons in the area constitute a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon. The Israel Defense Forces will continue to act to eliminate any threat to the State of Israel and prevent any attempts to revive the Hezbollah terrorist organisation," the statement said.

For the record, the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict has been a significant aspect of the broader Middle East dynamics for decades. Hezbollah, a Shiite militant group based in Lebanon, has long been supported by Iran and Syria, and it operates under the ideological and strategic aims of resisting Israel's presence and influence in the region. Over the years, Hezbollah has built a substantial military infrastructure in southern Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, and other strategic locations, often using civilian areas as cover for military operations, which has exacerbated tensions with Israel.
