Houthis call on Arabs to halve oil exports to US, Europe In solidarity with Gaza
In a move aimed at exerting pressure and garnering support for Gaza, the Houthi rebels in Yemen, aligned with the pro-Iranian Ansarullah movement, have called upon Arab nations to slash their oil exports to the United States and Europe by half.
Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Houthis' Supreme Political Council, delivered this call via the TV channel Al-Masirah.
"The Arabs have many cards in their hands (to stop the war in Gaza). If they wanted to use them, they would have done so, and it would have great consequences," al-Husi asserted, emphasizing the potential leverage Arab nations possess in influencing global affairs.
He further urged Arab and Islamic authorities to take concrete action, proposing a significant reduction in oil exports as a means to curtail Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, citing a proposed timeline beginning October 7, 2023.
The Houthis believe that such a measure would serve as a powerful tool in halting Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, al-Husi declared, underscoring the urgency of the situation and the necessity for collective action among Arab nations.
Despite their ongoing conflict with Saudi Arabia, the Houthi representative highlighted a common ground between the rebels and Saudi Arabia on political principles and a shared framework for addressing humanitarian concerns in Yemen.
