ICESCO reports on cultural losses in liberated Azerbaijani lands
The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) has completed an assessment of 81 cultural heritage monuments in Azerbaijani territories liberated from occupation.
The findings were included in the 2025 annual report of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan. The report also highlights that information about mass graves discovered in the liberated areas was submitted to the UN Human Rights Council’s Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
As part of post-conflict efforts to safeguard cultural heritage, a second international technical mission was organized in the liberated territories. The mission included ICESCO representatives and international experts who conducted detailed evaluations of the monuments.
The resulting report provides a comprehensive assessment of the damage inflicted on cultural properties during the period of occupation by Armenia. It also presents the condition of each of the 81 monuments individually, offering a detailed overview of their post-conflict status.
