Intelligence operation in Istanbul nets PKK terrorists PHOTO
In a significant operation, Turkish authorities, including the National Intelligence Organisation (MIT) and Istanbul Police Headquarters, have detained PKK terrorists Sadık Topaloglu, known as "Halil", and Mehmet Savaş.
The arrests were made on charges of gathering information for the criminal organization, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
According to security sources, Topaloglu illegally travelled to Iraq's Qandil district, where he underwent training within PKK ranks to collect intelligence. During his time in Iraq, he held meetings with PKK leader Cemil Bayık, alias "Juma".
MIT investigations revealed that both Topaloglu and Savaş were involved in financial activities on behalf of the PKK and facilitated material support to PKK members in Syria through front companies.
Following their arrest, both accomplices were charged with aiding and abetting a terrorist organization.
Throughout its nearly four-decade campaign against Türkiye, the PKK — recognized as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU — has been responsible for more than 40,000 fatalities, including women, children, and infants.
