Joint Turkish-Russian Monitoring Centre in Azerbaijan’s Aghdam ceases its activity

The joint Turkish-Russian Monitoring Centre in Azerbaijan’s Aghdam ceased its activity on April 26.

A solemn ceremony is being held at the Centre to mark this occasion, APA reports.

In this regard, a media tour was organised for a group of journalists.

A Joint Turkish-Russian Monitoring Centre was established in the Azerbaijani city of Aghdam in accordance with the memorandum signed between the Republic of Türkiye and the Russian Federation on January 30, 2021 to monitor the ceasefire in the Karabakh region and prevent violations of the law.

Azerbaijan restored its sovereignty throughout the country as a result of the anti-terrorist operation on September 19-20, 2023. In this regard, there is no need for the activity of the Centre any more as the Russian peacekeeping contingent began to leave the Karabakh region.

The Turkish Ministry of National Defence disseminated information on April 18 about the suspension of the activity of the joint Turkish-Russian Monitoring Centre located in Aghdam.
