Large drug smuggling operation foiled by police, border guards in Azerbaijan PHOTO / VIDEO
During a recent special operation conducted by the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry and the State Border Service, a large shipment of illegal drugs was intercepted before entering Baku.
Police and border officers apprehended Samit Mammadov and Hidayat Rashidov in the Imishli district, Caliber.Az reports.
The vehicle driven by Hidayat Rashidov was found to contain 134 kg of marijuana, heroin, and opium, along with 1,000 methadone tablets.
The detainees revealed that the drugs were supplied by an Iranian citizen, whose identity is currently being investigated. It has been established that Mammadov and Rashidov organized the smuggling of these narcotics from border districts into Baku.
A criminal case has been initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and the court has ordered the arrest of the suspects. Investigative and operational actions are ongoing.
