Media: Ex-Bangladesh prime minister to be granted asylum in Britain
Sheikh Hasina, the former prime minister of Bangladesh, has fled the country amid protests.
She may stay in India until a decision is made to grant her political asylum in Britain, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Republic TV channel.
According to the media, Sheikh Hasina had planned to leave for London immediately, but certain circumstances forced her to postpone her departure. Her accompanying sister Rehana already has British citizenship.
In addition, Sheikh Hasina's niece Tulip Siddique has been a UK MP for the Labour Party since 2015. In Prime Minister Keir Starmer's new cabinet, she has taken up the post of Deputy Finance Minister.
According to information, the Indian side provided security to Sheikh Hasina and shifted her to a safe place within the country. After landing at the Indian Air Force's Hindon Air Base, Sheikh Hasina met with Ajit Doval, National Security Adviser to the Indian Prime Minister.
