Minister: Tehran, Moscow have background for forming strong alliance
Iranian Defence and Armed Forces Support Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani said at a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu that Moscow and Tehran have prerequisites for forming a strong alliance against the background of the situation in the world.
"I am confident that our cooperation will lead to peace and stability in the international arena," he said, according to Gazeta.ru.
According to the assessment of the head of the Iranian Defence Ministry, in recent decades, the relations between the two countries in the security sphere "have seen unprecedented development". Sergei Shoigu's visit to Iran indicates the advent of a new period in bilateral relations, Ashtiani said.
"Your personal role in our bilateral relations can hardly be overestimated," Ashtiani concluded, addressing the Russian military chief.
