Morocco to purchase $1 billion spy satellite from Israel

10 July 2024 09:31

A billion-dollar deal announced on July 9 by Israeli defence firm Aviation Industries (IAI) has been confirmed with the Moroccan government.

The agreement, finalized this week, involves the delivery of an advanced spy satellite, which was initially agreed upon in December 2023, Caliber.Az reports via French media.

This new Israeli satellite will replace the current satellites, Muhammad VI-A and Muhammad VI-B, produced by Airbus, within five years.

Previously, Aviation Industries had announced the signing of a contract to supply the "system" to an unnamed foreign client. The contract is valued at $1 billion and will be completed over a five-year period.

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), commonly referred to as Aviation Industries, is a leading Israeli defence and aerospace company. Established in 1953, IAI is known for developing and manufacturing a wide range of advanced systems for air, space, sea, land, and cyber domains.

IAI exports its products and systems to numerous countries worldwide and has established a significant presence in international defence markets. The company's technology is used by various armed forces and defence organizations globally.
