Trump says he’d “rather not” attend potential Putin-Zelenskyy meeting
US President Donald Trump has indicated he would "rather not" participate in any potential meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Asked about the prospect of the leaders meeting, Trump compared the two to "oil and vinegar," saying they "don't get along too well,” Caliber.Az reports via Sky News.
"We're going to see if Putin and Zelenskyy will be working together," he said. "You know, that's like oil and vinegar, a little bit. They don't get along too well, for obvious reasons. But we'll see. And then we'll see whether or not I would have to be there. I'd rather not."
His remarks came shortly after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that a meeting between the two leaders is not planned, noting that an agenda is "not ready at all."
