IEA chief warns Europe to brace for worsening oil supply disruptions
01 April 2026 16:23
Disruptions in global oil supply caused by the ongoing conflict are expected to be twice as severe in April as they were in March, the head of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Fatih Birol warned.
Speaking during a podcast with Nicolai Tangen, the head of Norway’s sovereign wealth fund, he noted that so far, the war has led to a loss of approximately 12 million barrels per day of oil supply and has damaged about 40 key regional energy assets, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
“The biggest problem today is the lack of jet fuel and diesel. We are seeing that in Asia, but soon, I think, in April or May, it would come to Europe,” he added.
