Hundreds evacuated after explosion at industrial plant in US VIDEO
A mandatory evacuation was ordered on August 22 after an explosion at Smitty’s Supply, a lubricant manufacturing plant in the US Luisiana state.
The blast was reported shortly before 1 p.m. on August 22, according to Parish President Robby Miller. A large plume of smoke could be seen rising from the site in Roseland, prompting immediate concern for nearby residents, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.

Local authorities quickly expanded the evacuation zone to within a one-mile radius of the plant.
“Relocate IMMEDIATELY and stay away from this area until further notice,” the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office warned in a statement on X.
An elementary school within the evacuation zone was also cleared, with students transported to a safe location in Amite City.
At a briefing later in the afternoon, Miller said no injuries had been reported.
“Which is a godsend,” he told reporters, adding that the fire was still active and that the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality was monitoring the situation.
The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
Smitty’s Supply, which manufactures and distributes lubricants including motor oils, employs about 400 workers at its Roseland facility, according to Miller.
