Ukrainian man detained with ammunition at Poland’s defence exhibition

A 43-year-old Ukrainian citizen was detained in Poland after allegedly attempting to enter the 34th International Defence Industry Exhibition (MSPO) in Kielce carrying several rounds of small-arms ammunition, Polsat News reported.

Police received a report of the incident from exhibition security staff at about 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Officers who arrived at the scene found several pieces of ammunition on the man and detained him.

Authorities took the man to the prosecutor’s office as they investigate how he obtained the ammunition and why he attempted to bring it onto the exhibition grounds. Police said no other weapons were found in his possession.

The specific type of ammunition has not been disclosed.

The incident occurred shortly before the official opening ceremony of the exhibition, which was attended by Polish Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

The man’s detention and the investigation were confirmed by Polish authorities. Prosecutors said further procedural steps were planned following his transfer to the prosecutor’s office.
