Media: China building dry port on Russian border to boost trade

23 August 2025 12:47

In the border town of Suifenhe in China’s northeastern Heilongjiang Province, construction is underway on a new Chinese-Russian international cargo logistics port, aimed at strengthening trade links between the two countries.

The development was highlighted by Chinese media, citing information from local authorities.

The logistics complex will span 23,738 square meters, with a total investment of 120 million yuan — roughly $17 million at the current exchange rate set by the Central Bank of China.

Plans for the project include the establishment of a modern, high-standard international hub designed for the display, storage, and redistribution of goods. Additionally, the site will feature “star-level” office buildings and themed hotels to support business activities in the area.

According to Xinhua, the facility is expected to play a key role in supporting e-commerce companies, offering advanced infrastructure and smart logistics services.

By integrating cutting-edge technologies with efficient logistics solutions, the new hub aims to enhance the capabilities of both China and Russia in the field of international transportation and trade.

Suifenhe lies on the border with Russia’s Primorsky Krai, serving as a vital point of cross-border exchange.

Data from Harbin Customs shows that from January to July 2025, trade between Russia and Heilongjiang Province grew by 3.5%, reaching 139.61 billion yuan — approximately $19.5 billion.
