Moscow says US wants to accuse Iran, North Korea of supplying missiles to Russia
The United States, through a new provocation by Kyiv involving an attack on a children's facility, aims to increase pressure on North Korea and Iran by accusing these countries of supplying ballistic missiles to Russia, according to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service.
"The Americans plan to use this provocation to intensify the already ongoing campaign of pressure on Iran and North Korea for allegedly delivering ballistic missiles to Moscow. It is expected that they will claim such munitions were used in the attack on the children's facility,” the service said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The service also pointed out that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has already urged European Union countries to impose additional sanctions on Tehran and Pyongyang for allegedly transferring weapons to Russia.
“Washington is thus leading the Europeans to react immediately and as harshly as possible to the incident by condemning Russia and its partners,” the message reads.
Ukraine’s Western allies claim Iran has sent short-range ballistic missiles to Russia in a major escalation – a claim Tehran has rejected as “completely baseless and false” and pointed to what it sees as Western hypocrisy.
The United States, Britain, France and Germany imposed more sanctions on Iran for what they called Tehran’s “escalatory” decision. They provided no evidence and the weapon has not been observed on the battlefield yet.
