Ruling party: Georgia prevents Ukrainian scenario Struggle for peace continues
The Political Council of the ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party has stated that Georgia managed to prevent the situation from unfolding along the lines of the Ukrainian scenario, but the fight for peace in the country continues.
"Through great efforts and a relentless struggle, Georgia has managed to avoid the Ukrainian scenario. However, the fight for peace continues, and it must be carried through to the end," the political council said, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The ruling party once again emphasised that while the conflict in Ukraine is ongoing, there will always be an interest in opening a "second front" in Georgia. In this context, the Political Council of the party stressed that the Georgian people must continue fighting to survive.
The representatives of the Georgian Dream party also address attempts by the so-called "Deep State" to control Washington and its foreign policy. Georgian authorities believe that the current global crises, including the situation in Ukraine, are the result of actions by the "Deep State". "The Deep State has engulfed more than one country in the flames of war.
The most devastating impact of the Deep State’s bullets has been felt by our friendly nation, Ukraine. Until 2014, Ukraine enjoyed sovereignty, territorial integrity, peace, and a nearly $200 billion economy. Today, it is nearly destroyed, yet the authors of the Maidan bear no responsibility for this," the Georgian Dream party’s representatives said.
On February 25, 2022, Irakli Garibashvili, then prime minister of Georgia, announced that he did not plan to impose sanctions on Russia, citing national interests as the reason. In early March of the same year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recalled the Ukrainian ambassador from Tbilisi in protest of the Georgian government's stance on sanctions.
This decision was criticised by the opposition, which accused the Georgian authorities of collaborating with Russia. The leadership of the ruling party frequently accused Ukrainian officials and certain European politicians of attempting to open a second front on Georgian territory. Certain forces sought to provoke Russia into conducting parallel military operations there.
