Kazakh president to attend Trump-led Board of Peace signing in Davos

21 January 2026 10:23

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will travel to Davos on January 22 at the invitation of US President Donald Trump to participate in the signing ceremony of the Board of Peace charter, according to the presidential press service (Akorda).

The ceremony will mark the launch of the Board of Peace, aimed at addressing the situation in the Gaza Strip, Caliber.Az reports.

According to media sources citing the White House, the US has invited 58 leaders to join the board, which will address issues beyond Gaza as well.

The Board of Peace, set to officially launch on January 22 under US President Donald Trump, will oversee reconstruction efforts in Gaza. The initiative is based on the Comprehensive Plan for Ending the Gaza Conflict, unveiled in September 2025, and has gained international recognition, including endorsement through UN Security Council Resolution 2803 on November 17, 2025.

Trump has invited 58 leaders to join the council, which aims to unite countries ready to take responsibility for long-term stability and development in the region.

Serving as a central platform, the Board will monitor commitments and coordinate resources for rebuilding affected areas. However, the charter, drafted by the White House, grants Trump veto power over all decisions, a provision that has drawn criticism.
