Armenian president: Azerbaijani fuel now available for drivers in Yerevan
Armenia and Azerbaijan are moving towards closer economic and cultural cooperation following the recent conflict between the two countries, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan said at the World Economic Forum.
Khachaturyan described the human losses from the conflict as irreparable but said the willingness of both nations’ leaders to pursue peace was crucial in ending hostilities, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He emphasised that political courage and the ability to prioritise long-term strategic goals over short-term issues had paved the way for reconciliation.
The Armenian president highlighted early signs of practical cooperation between the countries, including joint economic and cultural initiatives.
Business communities are expected to begin engaging in exchanges, while civil society representatives have already started holding meetings. He noted that citizens in Yerevan can now refuel their vehicles with Azerbaijani petrol, reflecting tangible steps in day-to-day economic interaction.
Khachaturyan expressed optimism about the future of bilateral relations, stressing that peaceful coexistence with neighbours is the only viable path forward.
