Georgia’s parliament speaker says pressure on public will has failed

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has said attempts to influence the will of the Georgian people through pressure are not working.

Speaking about the country’s relations with its international partners, Papuashvili said some had hoped to influence the Georgian public, but that the response from the people had been “unequivocal”, Caliber.Az reports per Georgian media.

He said there was now a reassessment of policy towards Georgia, adding that efforts to influence the will of the Georgian people had failed.

“The will of the Georgian people must be accepted as it is,” Papuashvili said.
