Armenia considers importing electricity from Georgia, Azerbaijan

Armenia is considering importing electricity from Georgia and several other countries, including Azerbaijan, says Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

According to Pashinyan, given that Armenia is investing in artificial intelligence, if necessary, it could import electricity from any country, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

“There are various electricity transmission regimes. Sometimes countries have a surplus, while at other times they face increased demand. Given that Armenia is investing in artificial intelligence, we need to determine whether, if necessary, we could import electricity from any country, including Azerbaijan,” he noted.

Earlier, Armenian PM and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, on August 31.

The leaders discussed the implementation of agreements reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia and further steps toward consolidating lasting peace and normalising interstate relations.
