The leaders discussed the implementation of agreements reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia and further steps toward consolidating lasting peace and normalising interstate relations, Caliber.Az reports, citing state media.
Aliyev and Pashinyan highlighted the historic significance of the Washington Peace Summit held on August 8, 2025, as well as the Joint Declaration signed by the Azerbaijani and Armenian leaders and witnessed by US President Donald Trump. They also underscored the importance of the initialling of the agreed text of the Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Inter-State Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The sides pointed to several developments as practical manifestations of the dividends of peace, including the export of Azerbaijani petroleum products to Armenia and the transit through Azerbaijani territory of grain and other goods originating in third countries and destined for Armenia.
The two leaders also welcomed growing contacts between the Azerbaijani and Armenian business communities and exchanged views on opportunities to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the economic, trade and energy sectors.
Particular attention was paid to the delimitation of the state border. Aliyev and Pashinyan stressed the important role of the respective state commissions and the need to continue their work in line with agreements reached between the two countries.
The leaders also discussed further practical steps for implementing the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), one of the key outcomes of the Washington Peace Summit. They underlined the importance of connectivity projects along the TRIPP framework.
Confidence-building contacts between parliamentarians and civil society representatives were also positively assessed, with the sides noting their contribution to strengthening mutual trust and supporting the broader peace agenda.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Aliyev and Pashinyan agreed to maintain direct bilateral engagement and continue efforts to consolidate lasting peace, advance the normalisation of interstate relations, and strengthen regional connectivity.
