Pentagon ex-advisor warns US of losing NATO ally
Former top Pentagon advisor, retired colonel Douglas Macgregor has warned the US about losing a NATO ally.
“America's futile attempt to isolate Russia has isolated Washington, not Moscow,” Caliber.Az reports citing McGregor’s message on X.
“DC needs to wake up! Rather than joining the sanctions bandwagon, the rising powers of the Global South—India, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, the Gulf States—are all deepening economic ties with Moscow and Beijing. Türkiye, our erstwhile NATO ally, will now probably join the BRICS,” the message says.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on June 4 that Türkiye would like to join BRICS. Russian leader Vladimir Putin noted at a meeting with Fidan that Russia welcomes Türkiye’s interest in BRICS and will support the country in its efforts to solve common problems.
BRICS is an intergovernmental organisation comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.
The group was designed to bring together the world's most important developing countries, to challenge the political and economic power of the wealthier nations of North America and Western Europe.
