Macron warns of disastrous consequences should Israel go ahead with plan to seize Gaza
The French president has warned that Israel’s operation to seize Gaza could lead to a catastrophe that risks plunging “the entire region into a cycle of permanent war.”
President Emmanuel Macron published a lengthy post on his official X account following a phone conversation with Jordan’s King Abdullah II and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on this matter, Caliber.Az reports.
Among the statements made in his August 20 post, he informed the public that he reached a common understanding together with the leaders of Egypt and Jordan that only the following plan of action can bring an end to the conflict:
“→ The establishment of a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
→ The release of all hostages.
→ The large-scale delivery of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza.
→ The disarmament of Hamas and the strengthening of the Palestinian Authority in Gaza”, the post read.
I have just spoken with His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan and with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt.

We share the same conviction:
The military offensive in Gaza that Israel is preparing can only lead to disaster for both peoples and risks plunging the entire region…
Macron stressed that France, Egypt, Jordan, and other regional partners must “implement an international mission to stabilize Gaza and work toward a political solution that meets the aspirations of both the Israeli and Palestinian peoples.”
He further reiterated that France would be co-chairing the “Conference on the two-state solution” in New York this September alongside Saudi Arabia “in order to advance along this path.”
