Pro-EU party leads Moldova's parliamentary elections as 99% votes counted Details unveiled
The pro-European Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), founded by Moldovan President Maia Sandu, is set to secure a decisive victory in Moldova’s 2025 parliamentary elections, according to preliminary results with 99% of votes counted from open polling stations.
Early figures say that five political formations are crossing the threshold to enter Parliament: PAS, the pro-Russian Patriotic Bloc, the Alternative Bloc, Our Party, and the right-wing Democracy at Home Party, Caliber.Az reports via Moldovan media.
In the capital, Chișinău, where nearly 400,000 people voted, PAS has received 52.7% of the vote. The Patriotic Bloc follows with 21.2%, and the Alternative Bloc—which includes Chișinău Mayor Ion Ceban—has garnered 14.5%.
PAS also performed strongly in surrounding suburban areas, winning 61.1% of the vote, while the Patriotic Bloc and Alternative Bloc earned 12.7% and 10.9%, respectively.
The party’s support remains solid in central regions such as Strășeni (63.1%), Călărași (59.3%), Hîncești (58%), and Nisporeni (57.5%), reflecting continued backing for Moldova’s pro-European trajectory.
However, the Patriotic Bloc, which favours closer relations with Russia, has made significant gains in other parts of the country. It recorded a commanding 82.3% in the autonomous region of Gagauzia, where PAS received just 3.2%. The bloc also leads in the breakaway region of Transnistria (51%) and several northern districts, including Ocnița (52.2%), Briceni (48.5%), Dondușeni (48.2%), and Edineț (42.5%).
