Queue of trucks at Polish-Ukrainian border increases to 4,000
The State Border Service of Ukraine Andrey Demchenko has said that the queue of trucks waiting to enter Ukraine from Poland has grown to 3,900 vehicles.
“As of this morning, according to the information we have from Polish colleagues, 3,900 trucks are waiting in line at checkpoints for permission to enter Ukraine. The Polish side allows a certain number of cars through, but it is several times less than it was before the checkpoints began to be blocked,” Demchenko said on air at the national telethon, TASS reports.
Previously, he reported about 3,300 cars at Polish-Ukrainian checkpoints.
Also, according to a representative of the border service, on the border with Hungary and Slovakia, traffic through the checkpoint is carried out normally, however, there are queues there too, “since Ukrainian drivers are forced to choose detour routes based on the actions of Polish carriers.”
“There are now about 400 cars in line at the border with Slovakia, about 700 cars in line at the border with Hungary,” Demchenko noted, also pointing out that in recent hours the queues have grown at the border with Romania, where there are about 900 cars.
On November 6, Polish carriers began a protest by blocking three main checkpoints on the border with Ukraine, and on November 23, a fourth was added to them. The Poles demanded the abolition of the benefits provided by the European Union to truck drivers from Ukraine after February 24, 2022.
Truck drivers are forced to wait for days in kilometre-long queues. Since the beginning of the blockade, three Ukrainian drivers have already died in queues at the border. Colleagues from Hungary and Slovakia periodically joined the action of Polish carriers.
