US embassy urges Americans in Ukraine to stay alert for possible Russian air strikes
The United States Embassy in Kyiv has issued a warning to American citizens in Ukraine, citing a heightened risk of a significant air attack by Russia.
The advisory comes amid an uptick in missile and drone strikes across the country in recent weeks, Caliber.Az reports, referencing the Embassy's website.
“Russia has increased the intensity of its missile and drone attacks against Ukraine in recent weeks, and there is currently a continued risk of significant air attacks. The US Embassy in Kyiv urges US citizens to exercise appropriate caution. As always, we recommend you be prepared to shelter immediately in the event an air alert is announced,” the statement read.
Besides, the embassy urged Americans to identify nearby shelters in advance and ensure they have access to reliable mobile applications that provide real-time warnings of incoming threats.
The embassy also encouraged American citizens to stay informed through local news channels, maintain emergency supplies including food, water, and essential medications, and strictly follow instructions from Ukrainian authorities and emergency personnel during any crisis.
Additionally, the advisory highlighted the limitations of US government assistance in crisis situations, urging citizens to familiarise themselves with what the Department of State can and cannot do during emergencies abroad.
